Immunization Programme

World Immunization Week

24-04-2026 to 30-04-2026

World Immunization Week 2026 is observed from 24 to 30 April under the global theme “For Every Generation, Vaccines Work.” This campaign highlights the critical role of vaccines in protecting individuals across all stages of life and safeguarding communities from vaccine-preventable diseases.

Sri Lanka’s National Immunization Programme (NIP) is one of the country’s most successful public health initiatives, providing safe, effective, and quality-assured vaccines free of charge through a well-established network of maternal and child health services. Over the past decades, the programme has contributed significantly to the control, elimination, and reduction of a number of communicable diseases, leading to improved child survival.

World Immunization Week provides an opportunity to reinforce public confidence in vaccines, address emerging vaccine hesitancy, and ensure that all eligible children receive timely vaccinations.

Through continued commitment and community engagement, Sri Lanka aims to sustain its achievements and ensure that every generation is protected through vaccination.
