Avian Influenza

Presently, a highly pathogenic subtype of influenza virus type A, H5NI is causing an outbreak of avian influenza in the neighboring countries of Asia. This outbreak has affected the poultry industry of these countries and has also resulted in a number of human deaths. According to experts, subtypes of influenza virus type A is known to jump species and there is an imminent threat of an influenza pandemic. Chronic Kidney Disease

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is an emergency health problem and is often combined with poor health outcomes. According to the recent statistics, a significant increase of CKD cases has been observed in North Central Province (NCP) and the adjacent areas. interest in CKD in Sri Lanka has been stimulated by the finding that for most of the cases reported from the NCP, the aetiogy is not clear.
