Avian Influenza

Presently, a highly pathogenic subtype of influenza virus type A, H5NI is causing an outbreak of avian influenza in the neighboring countries of Asia. This outbreak has affected the poultry industry of these countries and has also resulted in a number of human deaths. According to experts, subtypes of influenza virus type A is known to jump species and there is an imminent threat of an influenza pandemic.
