Training on Avian Influenza Preparedness

A series of training programmes on Avian Influenza Preparedness is now being conducted by the Epidemiology Unit at the hospitals that have been selected as sentinel sites for Avian Influenza. The objective of this programme is to develop awareness on Avian Influenza preparedness among the hospital staff and it is aimed for clinicians, nursing staff and laboratory technicians. Programmes have so far being carried out in National Hospital of Sri Lanka, Teaching Hospital Ragama, Teaching Hospital Kurunegala and Infectious Diseases Hospital Colombo. The next two programmes will be conducted at Lady Ridgeway Children’s Hospital and Provincial Hospital Badulla.
